Wiki-Solar

We track & support global utility-scale photovoltaic power plant deployment.

Information for you

We provide information in other ways, too:

- Lists of projects by country

- Market overviews with analysis

- A networking service to identify partners by regions & sectors

Showing what's out there

We publish details of projects, both operating and in development, on maps.

An extract from the global projects map - click to go to world map

We have two types of map. One shows each known project with a place-marker - click on example above or here.

For stations with a known site plan, we show maps of the plant footprints - click on example below or here.

A sample map of solar project sites in Spain - click to go to site maps

Analysing the results

We process the data in our extensive database to analyse the key participants in the industry both:

We also analyse the key performance and design characteristics of projects to derive average and best practice benchmarks, both worldwide and by region, for parameters such as:

  • Performance ratio
  • Annual output MWh per MWp
  • Site area per MWp
  • Carbon savings
  • Project costs and financing ratios

The world's most comprehensive database

All these outputs are based on our database of over 10,000 solar power generating stations worldwide, including both operating plant and projects in development.

For more details about the Wiki-Solar Database, go here. For the criteria we use to include projects, and to show them on our maps, see here.

This is a 'wiki' because, although much of the data from official sources, a lot is from you. Industry participants update or correct data on plants shown, and add new ones.
